{ The 18 Bucket List }

If you think about it, birthdays are pretty weird. You’re essentially celebrating that another year of your life has evaporated and that you’re one year closer to your expiration date.

(That’s a Forever 21 jacket by the way and it’s amazing, right?)

Note: these are not goals; there’s like totally a separate list for that. Coming soon to a theatre near you. (IE: I’ll post my New Year Goals on New Year’s Day)

Well, it’s my birthday tomorrow and, due to the ability humans have to apply meaning and significance to utterly meaningless objects and events, this means that I will be an adult.

Indeed, I am turning . . .

18.

Now, as this is the first year of my grown up life, I want it to be a good one. I want to it to be a graceful ascent into adulthood; fun, productive, meaningful.

So I’ve created a Bucketlist of things I want to do in my 18th year on this earth. (And getting shitfaced drunk is included. It’s all about grace.)

  1. Get a tattoo
  2. Cross something off the bucket list
  3. See Panic! perform live
  4. Do a volunteer holiday
  5. Go blonde
  6. Learn Italian
  7. Start yoga
  8. Hot yoga
  9. Suspension yoga
  10. Start kickboxing
  11. Go on a friend holiday
  12. Learn to pole-dance
  13. Start belly-dance
  14. Aerial silk
  15. Get braids
  16. Watch the Book Of Mormon
  17. Watch Hamilton
  18. Road. Trip.
  19. Go on a spontaneous weekend away
  20. See Guns ‘N’ Roses
  21. Chinese New Year in Chinatown.
  22. Save £5,000
  23. Get incredibly drunk
  24. Go on a cabin holiday, preferably alone
  25. Road trip!

These are just a few things that I’d love to do during the next year of my life!

I hope everyone had an absolutely fantastic Christmas; I personally like to switch off a little bit during the holiday season, so I haven’t been very active – but I’m back! Now, I would love to expand this list, so if you have any suggestions, things you did when you were 18 or want to do when you turn (or even things you just want to watch me do, you sick fuckers) then let me know in the comments below!

All the love,

Mia x

Happy Early 18th Birthday! And I’d say that’s a great bucket list for the first year of being an adult. Good luck and I’m sure you’ll be able to accomplish all of them x

aw, thank you so much! I know I’m crossing the first one off tomorrow (I’m getting a tattoo…) so hopefully the rest of the year follows suit! x

That’s great! Have you decided on what design you’d like? x

oh yes (it’s a floral type design; I’ll upload a post in the evening!) I actually went in for the consultation and got it all designed etc last month :)x

I can’t wait to see the tattoo on your post tomorrow x

Can’t wait to see the post tomorrow x

Hiya Mia, congrats on turning 18! Love your bucket list, especially the blonde bit, you’re so brave, I’ve never had the balls to do that!
One thing caught my eye though, the volunteer holiday thing. You are aware about the problems with voluntourism right? Here’s an article which covers the basics http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/jk-rowling-twitter-voluntourism-volunteering-in-orphanages-risks-a7204801.html
Just be wary, often its better to do these things independently and check out places you’re interested in working first. If you’re interested in working with animals in particular, I know the Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre in Phuket, Thailand, run a program that is free from much of the issues of voluntourism!
Good luck with achieving your bucket list and I hope 18 treats you well 🙂

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this out! I’d never even heard of these issues; it was very useful stuff! x

(However, the volunteer holiday I wanted to take was in Madagascar for forest preservation work – but it was a very good read, so I appreciate the share (: )

Omg that would be amazing!! Good luck if you decide to go for it 🙂 Madagascar looks incredible! No worries, just though I’d say something incase you were looking at more questionable companies.. I was in that boat for ages with no idea!!

Ah thank you! The only issue is the time off work, but I’ll try to find a way around! It does look AMAZING, let me know if you want me to send you the program 🙂 .. I really appreciate the heads up, I never would’ve even considered that aspect of voluntary work.. ;-;

happy almost birthday!!! this post is too cute, oh my goodness! your 18 bucketlist honestly sounds a lot like the things I wanted to do when I turned 18 (especially the yoga, kickboxing, roadtriping, and pole-dancing), but I wasn’t able to get around to completing everything; that said, I’m rooting for you!

Thank you! What did you manage to get round to doing? I’m currently trying to rope all my friends into as much as possible so that I don’t lose motivation!

[…] New Year? Let me know in the comments below. (And, if you haven’t, feel free to check out my 18 Bucket List and add some hopefully not too crazy ideas to […]

Happy 18th! I also turned 18 this year – and I’ve gotta say my bucket list is looking pretty similar to yours 😉 I just love Panic! and Hamilton, I’m sure you’ll love them too.

Thank you! (You too – even if it is a bit late!) Oooh, I look forward to reading some things get ticked off! ;D

Thank you! 🙂 x
