Is there a way to type “ha ha ha” without sounding completely juvenile? No?
Well, then have a gif.
Why am I laughing at you? Because the irony. The poignant, painful irony. Oh, how it burns.
What am I talking about? Good question. I’m talking about work. Yes, the same strangely comforting work that was slowly dragging me down into monotony and eventual death. (I actually very much enjoy my job and my boss is great; I know, it’s hard to tell. My general disposition is just sarcastic, it really doesn’t mean all that much).
Well, the irony is that I work for a shipping company so I end up spending a lot of time looking at travelling and cool places overseas. (Totally for content marketing purposes, I promise.)
The job that slowly sucks my will to do anything other than meaninglessly exist is also the one where I sit there and stare at all the places I want to visit in the world.
If it wasn’t clear yet – boom, irony.
However, have no fear.
I’m combating what I like to refer to as “the toad syndrome” with my five year plans and my life dreams and even an 18th year bucket list. What else? A travel bucket list. A nice enticing list of things I need to do before I inevitably kick the bucket and-
Holy shit, I just got why they’re called bucket lists.
And that’s our sign to get on with it.

There are a lot of things I want to do. I want to volunteer abroad in Madagascar really, really badly. Oh – and, in case you hadn’t noticed, I really, really have a big thing for bridges.
To be honest, I just love nature. Forests, jungles, nature reserves, safaris . . . I love being immersed in nature. So my bucket list is full of these lush places.
Now . . . onto where I’m actually going this year!
I know I’ve briefly touched on the fact that I’m going to Mauritius in this post, but I realised that I haven’t actually shared my travel plans for the year. So I thought that I’d just tack them on to the end of this post.
Let’s do this in chronological order!
- Mauritius – end of March
- Amsterdam – May
- Lisbon – Beginning of June
- Italy – Middle of June
- Spain – End of June
- Italy – End of July
- Cyprus – August
- Brazil – September
I’d really hoped to go on a volunteer holiday in Madagascar (I really don’t think you guys get how much I want to do this. It’s an actual craving.) this year, but with full-time work skipping off to the jungle for a few weeks just wasn’t feasible. Maybe when I go to uni?
Okay, well, this was just an entry post to my travel themed month!
If you do follow me on Twitter, I’m sure (amidst all the random song tweeting…) you’ve heard me getting all excited about posting for this month. Essentially, what I’m doing is padding out the currently non-existent travel category of my blog because, now that I’m 18, I can travel – and I want you guys along with me!
I hope you’re as excited about this month as I am! What things are on your travel bucket list? Do you think you’d want to do anything from mine?
All the love,
