Setting Goals For The Next 3 Months – With A Bit Of Stationery Porn

Oh, sweet motivation, how I have missed you.

Guys; it’s May.

Not even early May – it’s over halfway through. We’re almost in June. The sixth month of the year. Am I the only one that’s absolutely terrified by that prospect? Somehow I managed to sleepily trudge through my almost-favourite season of the year (Spring) without even noticing. Before you know it, I’ll be dead.

Actually, that being said, death might not even be a case of time slipping by unnoticed as much as it could be a case of Trump pissing off North Korea and the entire world imploding.

So, yeah. Thanks America.

Now, what with it being almost half-way through 2017, I decided that a little life assessment was in order. You know? We set all these New Year’s Resolutions in January, but do we actually check up on them? I don’t know; maybe you’re one of those irritating people that has their shit together and you do check up on all your goals and monitor your progress.

(Which is good for you and everything, but we all secretly hate you and have voodoo dolls with your face on it that we use as pin-cushions.)

(Kidding.)

(Kind of.)

Regardless, I don’t. I’m a mess. It’s terrible. However, I decided to try to combat this with a mid-year re-targeting and goal-setting exercise. Now, I could talk about how all my New Year Resolutions and goals are going so far, but . . . I kind of already did. So (while I’ll attach the video of me talking about my progress so far) this post is going to be about setting goals going forward into the second half of the year.

You’re going to pretend to love it.

First of all . . . let’s get some structure to these. I’m just going to run through how I set goals and what they are.

So I’m using my Papaya Planner (trust me, when you see what this interior looks like you’re going to want that link.) to note all these things down. While I recommend having a planner purely because they’re so pretty and I like the excuse to buy stationery, you could use a phone calendar app too.

Diary // Polaroid Camera // Glasses //

So I like to split my goals into initial sections, depending on what areas of my life I’m targeting.

When you do this, you can have as many as you want. It depends how your brain works. For some people it helps to micro-manage and for some people they want to be vague and loose with it. It’s all up to you. Like a tacky High School Musical number.

I personally picked the main things that my goals fall around:

Blogging

Health & Fitness

Financial

Social Life / General Life

Blogging Goals

  • Get my site speed to under 3 seconds. (Which is why the “change hosting” is on that To-Do list.)
  • Blog once a week consistently from August.
  • Get a couple of lookbook videos up.
  • Write 2 SEO-targeted posts
  • Get a new camera!
  • Reach 1,000 instagram followers. (If you don’t already follow me, get on that here.)
  • Be more active on Twitter
  • Reach 2,000 followers (only 334 to go!)
  • Reach 100 Youtube subscribers (subscribe to me here!)
  • Finally edit and get up a Mauritius VLOG. Look, I have over 50 minutes of footage (thanks for that, Dad. I really needed that half-an-hour of underwater scuba diving video.) it’s hard to motivate myself to edit it.
  • Create a few “viral pin” images
  • Update my design. Again.

Health and Fitness

  • Start meditation again
  • Start yoga
  • Take more time to RELAX
  • Try to keep an even and happy headspace
  • Go for walks more often and spend more time immersed in nature
  • Drink more water and green tea
  • Take care of my skin
  • Eat 5-a-day
  • Eat well!
  • Go jogging
  • Start journalling and being creative again

Financial

  • Get my Etsy store up and running!
  • Make £50 off Etsy
  • Have £2,500 in my savings account
  • Find a new income stream

Social Life / General Life

  • Continue travelling!
  • Go to more concerts!
  • Spend more time with friends.
  • Spend more time with family.
  • Take advantage of London (hey, I’m getting better at this!)
  • Document when I go out. Whenever I do really fun things, I never take photos or record it in any way – and I really need to.

So these are my over-arching goals – now it’s time to lay out the steps to achieving them. Once I have these goals, I break them down into mini-goals and steps that I need to take to achieve them. From there, I like to assign these mini-goals to rough dates that I aim to have them completed by. This is why it helps to have a physical planner or diary because you can leave yourself reminders that you’ll actually see.

Looking back on it, I really should have tracked these goals in my planner before I took the photos, but what can you do?

June Goals

I’m so excited for June – first of all, there’s Lisbon to see Guns’N’Roses, then I’m going to Milan with two of my best friends, Michael and Olly. (Olly is the one in the pic.) But I guess travel-induced excitement isn’t the point and I should move on.

Fine.

As you can see by the one – one – tracked goal, I included a little nudge to one of my social life goals “Have you bought festival tickets yet?”.

So for June, here’s what I’ve got:

  • Finish switching over your hosting and adjusting plugins etc. for better site speed
  • Buy that camera you need and learn to use it on the holidays
  • Then use these images to update your blog with
  • With the nice weather, go with Dad to walk the dog in the evenings (he goes to country parks, so it’s exercise and exposure to nature)
  • Get up twenty minutes early, stretch and meditate in the morning
  • Take litre bottles of water to work
  • Drink green tea
  • Get a new planner (this one has been chewed by the dog, RIP.)
  • Upload at least 3 new items to Etsy
  • Buy festival tickets
  • 30 Day Plank Challenge

I’m going on holiday with friends and travelling for a concert, so in terms of social life June is looking pretty good. However, British summer doesn’t last all that long so I really want to wring as much out of it as I can before it disappears like it never was. So I plan to create a “bucketlist” of all the summer things I want to do and places I want to visit. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll have time to complete it in June – but I think I’ll be able to start it.

July Goals

July is another fun month – actually, just this whole summer is fun. My best friend Leila and I are going to a festival in Spain (and the lineup is amazing.) and then I’m going to Rome to see Red Hot Chilli Peppers! I think – especially in these coming months – it’s essential for me to set some goals and have some structure so that I don’t end up completely thrown off my routine by all the travelling.

So, in July, I want to:

  • Start going for (at least) weekly walks and jogs with Olly to natural places
  • If Josh is feeling up to it, go for walks with him
  • Complete the summer bucketlist
  • Get a lookbook up!
  • Reach 700 Instagram followers
  • Make daily smoothies to take to work
  • Take the dog out with dad in the mornings
  • Start doing my food shopping again and taking healthy snacks and lunches into work
  • Have at least 15 Etsy listings up
  • Have at least 2 DIY posts up on the blog
  • Get some blog design ideas up
  • Reach £1,600 in savings
  • Do a weekly or monthly yoga challenge
  • 30 Day Squat Challenge
  • Get another tattoo!

August Goals

To finish off our jet-setting summer we have two weeks in Cyprus to celebrate my mother’s birthday! Guys, I don’t think you understand . . . I’m on a mission to tan as much as humanly possible. That’s the secret reasoning behind all these holidays. Sneaky, right?

Okay, my goals for August are:

  • Earn at least £100 through Etsy
  • Post twice a week on the blog
  • Go to rewatch the Book Of Mormon
  • Do at least 3 things off of the completed bucketlist
  • Enroll in a class – I’m thinking MMA
  • Get my mother a fucking amazing birthday present. Shouldn’t be too hard; she isn’t like my dad who is impossible to buy for.
  • Get a SEO post up on the blog
  • Start learning to cook and experimenting with recipes
  • Try for 8-fruit-or-veg-a-day
  • Eat healthy breakfasts

Okay, so those are my goals for the next three months! I hope you enjoyed this post and looking inside my planner. A wee bit of stationery porn never hurt nobody, right?

And, as a quick sneak peek at my next review, look at what colour my hair is in that ‘lil Polaroid snap of me and my mama. I may or may not have a spray-on temporary hair dye review coming up for you beautiful souls. Anyways, I’ve finished moving the bulk of my site onto a new host (which is why my site was down for like a week and I couldn’t access anything and all the comments from the last post have disappeared) but . . .

I’m back, bitches. And I’m feeling inspired as fuck. So keep tuned, because we have some good content coming up.

All the love,

Mia x

So many wonderful goals lovely, I’m also the same with fitness, hopefully we can do it. Good luck with all goals!!
P.S. Love your stationery, it’s perfect. xx

Thank you gorgeous! You have your life so together, I have complete faith you can do it – and I’m working on it ;D xx

Whoa you got so much to do – and it all looks so exciting! That papaya planner is to die for…

Aha! I mean they’re AMBITIOUS, so I’m definitely not thinking I’ll be able to do everything, but it’s worth a try! And I know – it broke my soul a bit to see my dog CHEWING it *breathes heavily*

I love the idea of a goals post! It’s always good to get down your goals on to paper or in a calendar. I too have a lot of goals for the upcoming months. Motivation is always difficult to come by as a blogger, but you can do it! Hope you have a great month lady. 🙂

Thanks lovely – I’d definitely read it if you wrote one! Definitely agree with you on that one…hope you have a great month as well!

I just realized that I don’t follow you on Instagram so I’ll contribute to your follower goal! 🙂
What are you thinking of doing to take care of your skin? Overhaul your skincare or add treatments?
Savings is so important… but then again my SO is an accountant and that’s all he drills into me. I have set up auto-deposits into various savings accounts each month. If I don’t see the money, I don’t spend it! 😛
What tattoo design are you thinking of getting?
Guns’N’Roses and Lisbon?!! Wow, that’s going to be an awesome time! Enjoy!

I noticed you followed me (and followed back, of course) – thank you lovely! 😀 And I’ve actually been implementing a new skin-care regime which is starting to pay off, so I’m really trying to keep consistent with that and bring in new products and whatnot over time. Most of my skin’s issues are to do with stress/excercise/not getting enough nutrients, so I’m HOPING that my efforts in being healthy should balance it out!
That’s so handy! I’m sure your savings accounts look great 😀 I have a direct deposit of 10% of my monthly earnings that goes out on payday, but I’m going to try increasing that…*oh the shopping*
I’m basically thinking of getting an extension/improvement to my existing one and trying to add some more detail 🙂 And thank you – I’m looking forward to it! 😀

Hahaha, I had a good laugh so thank you LM! Here’s to oiled hair (that’s a lot of oil hun!), killing it on Etsy and not losing any more Davids indeed xx

You’re welcome! Here’s most definitely to oiled hair (it was a LOT of oil, my skin was unhappy later…) and the rest! 😀 xx

Amazing post! 🙂

Thank you so much!x

Thank you lovely! 🙂
